I downloaded a western digital lifeguard hard drive diagnostic boot file and when i ran it on startup it said no western digital drive detected. Someone else already did that. It’s time to fight for your right to repair and defend local repair jobs—the corner mom-and-pop repair shops that keep getting squeezed out.

Here's my guess: After you unplugged the old drive, you did something wrong when plugging it back in. In rare cases we HAVE heard of, one of those +12 v sections has failed. It requires manufacturers to provide owners and independent repair shops with access to repair information and replacement parts—so you have the resources you need to fix things quickly and affordably. Two years ago, I installed Windows XP on both this computer as well as my wife's SR5050NX and did not encounter this problem at that time.
I basically inserted the end of the tape strip into the thin slot of the connector, than wrapped around a couple of mm onto the outside of the connector. **BUT** while Everything went fine with the first HDD. So it attempted to boot your old version of Windows and ran into trouble. One more note: If you plan to use the old drive for backup purposes, putting it inside the computer is a really bad idea.

At that point the bios stopped detecting my second drive and only detected the main drive and my DVD writer.
