I have seen quite dramatic improvements in performance after defrag. If you have created a System Repair Disc, you can boot from that disk as well and access the System Recovery Options. Something else to keep in mind is that the backup includes the drivers so restoring to dissimilar hardware may mean you'll need to add your own drivers for that new system. Caveat A system image includes the operating system and all your system settings, your programs, and all your files.

I've also successfully tested this and works quite well, even if it wasn't primary intent when Veeam created the product. You can create a system image of your computer's hard drive, swap the drive out for an SSD, and then restore that image to the SSD. But I saw little improvement.Then I got Diskkeeper, which also said my drive was severely fragmented, even though I had just run XP's defragger!
