Only thing I had to do different was to start in safe mode with command prompt. Then troubleshoot the system from then on if the problem exists. I did a complete reinstall of windows, back to vanilla and it worked for a few days and now the screen is flashing again. Ctrl-Alt-Delete brings up the task manager but the flashing screen prevents me from typing in msconfig!!! I downloaded the Win 10 installation again and gave it a second chance. It is impossible to use drop-down menus.
