in General Support I have two Windows VMs, one Windows 7 and the other Windows 8. This post is correct that you need to find KB2871389 and uninstall it, and accept the prompt to reboot. They tried and also failed to update to Win 8.1. if I can get back to this link, I will give you an update about the completion of the updating.
